Our work in cultural health supports the spiritual, emotional and physical wellbeing of our people. Grounded in Yuin cultural ways, we work with people to address trauma, rebuild connections, and strengthen identity through cultural practices, connection to Country and support systems led by and for Mob.

Country is at the heart of everything we do. We care for lands and waters through Yuin governed practices. Cultural burning, is one vital practice we specialise in to heal Country, restore balance, and continue ancient knowledge systems that have sustained our landscapes for generations.

We work to reawaken and preserve Yuin knowledge systems — including the Djirringanj language, oral histories, stories, and cultural practices. Language is central to identity and Law, and revitalising Djirringanj is a core part of our work. Through on-Country learning, intergenerational teaching, cultural camps and community-led education, we ensure knowledge is not only protected but lived and shared in ways that are culturally safe.

We support and promote cultural artistic expression as a powerful way of sharing knowledge, strengthening identity, and connecting with Country. Our work includes traditional dance workshops, cultural film-making, and Yidaki (didgeridoo) workshops (men only). These practices honour ancestral traditions while also allowing space for contemporary storytelling and creative expression grounded in Yuin culture.

We deliver cultural education and awareness training that fosters respect, understanding and connection between non-Indigenous and Indigenous people. Through workshops, tailored training and on-Country eco-tours, participants learn directly from Yuin knowledge holders about culture, history, and the deep relationship with Country. These experiences help address the widespread lack of cultural understanding, creating space for truth-telling and shifting relationships toward mutual respect and care. Cultural education is not just about learning — it’s about transforming how we see, listen, and live together.

Tjuringal has been actively involved in producing high-quality research that reflects Yuin knowledge systems, community priorities, and cultural perspectives. This work has already contributed to national and international academic conversations, particularly in areas such as health, culture, and Country. We prioritise research that is community-led, culturally grounded, and conducted in ways that respect cultural protocols and intellectual sovereignty. Moving forward, we aim to expand this work by continuing to lead and support research that drives meaningful outcomes for our people — strengthening cultural ways of life, influencing practice and policy, and affirming the authority of Yuin knowledge holders.

We aim to grow community-based enterprises that draw on Yuin knowledge of bush foods and medicines to support economic sustainability, local employment and food sovereignty. This includes future projects such as producing traditional food and medicinal products, and developing eco-aquafarming initiatives. These efforts will strengthen cultural practice, support community development, and create meaningful, culturally grounded opportunities for our people.
